Gateway Christian Training College Sports Department offers programmes for those who want to learn how to coach sporting disciplines and for those interested in pursuing a career in Sports Management.
- To provide internationally recognised qualifications for all individuals who wish to pursue careers in sports education
- To provide short courses and coaching clinics facilitated by qualified personnel to already established sports educators, ensuring they are kept abreast of the current trends empowering them with up to date knowledge to impart fully to their learners
- To promote sport and healthy living in our families and communities
- Ensure sports educators are well equipped to provide advice to learners to develop mental, physical and tactical skills required for competitions
DIPLOMA IN SPORTS COACHING AND MANAGEMENT
This course is offered in association with the National University of Sports and Technology (NUST). It is accredited by the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development.
The two year programme is designed to produce well rounded sports coaches with in depth theoretical and practical knowledge of sports, instruction and management thereof. The diploma runs on a block release model starting every April. Lectures are conducted at GCTC. In-between lectures and assignments students are attached to a school where they will be supervised and assessed by our staff and external assessors.
The onus lies with the student to find placement for their Teaching Practice.
Two years. The year is divided into three terms in keeping with school terms as prescribed by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. Two week block releases take place during the school holidays.
A minimum of 5 ‘O’ Levels at Grade C or better including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject.
Application letters must be accompanied by copies of a completed application form, school certificates, CV and ID.

COACHING CLINICS AND SHORT COURSES
These courses are designed to provide current theoretical and practical education as well as training guidelines for sport educators. We offer courses for all disciplines and our courses are conducted by qualified personnel from established institutions, e.g. the Hockey Association of Zimbabwe. These programmes are open to all teachers and coaches who are interested in obtaining qualifications in specific disciplines.
